The Community Advocate Outreach Project

The Community Advocate Outreach Project (CAOP) is the education and outreach division of the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office DART unit. To align with the Presidents National Drug Control Strategy, CAOP works to prevent drug usage by encouraging youth and adults to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to gain an appreciation of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

CAOP has three objectives:

To educate adolescents and adults about the illicit drug use and the science of addiction in an effort to prevent illegal drug use.

To clarify the impact of illicit drug use on the families, peers, and society to reduce the adverse health, social and economic consequences of drug usage within the community.

To support people with substance use disorders, achieve and maintain a meaningful and sustained recovery through linkage and referral services.
